Rev. Fred Overton, a member of 1st Baptist Church Atlanta, was in Dillon County to lead two seminars; one on “Heaven” at Latta Baptist and an evening seminar “Defending Your Faith,” at Pyerian Baptist of Floyd Dale.

These conferences were made possible by the joint sponsorship of Latta and Pyerian Baptist churches.
Over four hundred participated in the two seminars. The evening seminar was opened in prayer by host pastor, Rev. James Orr.
The Lake View Community Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Jean Smith, then blessed the first teaching session with four gospel selections.
Rev. Overton then led the participants through a training on how you can defend the Doctrine of the Trinity; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
A delicious meal of chicken bog, green beans, rolls and assorted deserts was served by the ladies of Pyerian. The meal was free to the attending public. After the meal the Lake View Community Choir opened the second teaching session with more music.
Rev. Overton closed the evening session with proofs from science that the Bible is true and verifiably reliable. In a short question and answer session, Rev. Overton took questions from the audience; including, how are Christians to operate while on earth and is there irrefutable evidence that Jesus rose from the dead.
Rev. Austin Wynn of Piney Grove Baptist Church closed in prayer.
Rev. Overton was lead to the Lord under the ministry of Dr. Charles Stanley and has taught extensively for the past twenty-one years across the nation. Rev. Overton is also the former head basketball coach of Murray State University of Murray, Kentucky.
Rev. Overton is returning to Dillon, April 19th, 2014 to East Dillon Baptist Church to lead a seminar on apologetics.
