Frank J. Brand, II Selected As Boy Scouts’ Distinguished Citizen

The Pee Dee Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is pleased to announce that Frank J. “Buddy” Brand, II has been selected to receive the Distinguished Citizen’s Award. The award will be presented at a dinner in honor of Mr. Brand at the Florence Country Club on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.

Mr. Brand, a former Boy Scout and Scouting volunteer has made a tremendous positive impact on the community, volunteering with numerous organizations, including the United Way of Florence County, the Francis Marion University Foundation Board, the Pee Dee Land Trust, and McLeod Health Board of Trustees. He also serves as the Mayor-Pro Tem of the Florence City Council.

Mr. Brand is a 27 year sales and marketing professional in the area of financial services. He served many of those years with Interstate Johnson Lane, A.G. Edwards, and Wachovia Securities. He now serves as Senior Vice President of Investments at Stifel Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated in Florence.

“Buddy is a tremendous community minded person. His commitment to making people’s lives better is recognized throughout the region by his friends, peers and constituents. Buddy is respected and liked by all.,” said Barry McDonald, Scout Executive/CEO of the Pee Dee Area Council. Walt Barefoot, Council President added, “It is hard to imagine a person more deserving of this recognition than Buddy Brand. Buddy has a long history of service to others. The Pee Dee Area is truly fortunate to have Buddy living, working and serving in our community.”
