Mary Payne Brown Perry

Mary Payne Brown Perry, 91, of Nashville died July 7, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home in Florence, South Carolina.

She was born on July 9, 1921 in Berrien County to the late Edwin Harrison and Kathryn Ann Moore Brown. She was a homemaker and devoted and lifelong member of Nashville United Methodist Church, serving her church and community in numerous ways.

She is the widow of James Henning “Jim” Perry and was preceded in death by her son, James Edmund “Jimmy” Perry and brother, Dr. Harold E. Brown and wife Ruby Smith Brown.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Perry Bumgardner and husband Dr. John O. Bumgardner of Dillon, SC; daughter-in-law Mary Smoak Perry of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren Mark Perry and wife Paige and Julie Cowart and husband Adam both of Valdosta, Georgia; Anne Hopkins and husband Hunter of Atlanta, GA; Salley Payne Bumgardner of Dillon, SC; and Wen Bumgardner of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren Tripp Perry, Medley Perry, Harrison Hopkins and Hansen Cowart; beloved sister-in-law Mary Ernestine Houston and many beloved nieces and nephews and family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Nashville United Methodist Church with Dr. John Bumgardner and Rev. Tom Tippett officiating. Internment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday one hour prior to services at the church. Her great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.
