Baseball and Softball State Champions Crowned

The last of the state baseball and softball championship games wrapped up last week with the 2013 champs crowned.

Upper State teams claimed six of the state titles, while Lower State teams claimed just two state championships.

In Class A, St. Joseph’s Catholic claimed the state baseball title, defeating Latta 8-0 and 10-0 in the best-of-three series. Latta won the first game 5-3.

The softball title went to East Clarendon. The Lady Wolverines defeated Latta for the lower state title and defeated Dixie 2-1 in the series. Dixie won game two 8-1.

In Class 2A, Chesnee defeated Bishop England 2-1 and 5-3 to claim the state baseball title. Bishop England won game two 3-0 to force the third game.

In softball action, Crescent swept Waccamaw for the title, defeating the Lady Warriors 3-2 and 8-1.

The Class 3A baseball title went to A.C. Flora, who swept Airport 10-9 and 11-3.

The softball title went to Daniel, who swept Darlington 4-0 and 4-0 for the crown.

In Class 4A, Lexington defeated Blythewood 5-2 and 4-0 in the best-of-three baseball series. Blythewood earned a 7-2 win in game two.

The softball title went to Boiling Springs, who swept Summerville 4-3 and 11-0 in the championship.
