Calvin Elliott

Calvin  A. Elliott, 72, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in a local medical facility after a brief illness.
Mr. Elliott was born in Nichols on October 13, 1940 to Leslie Elliott and Ethel McCrackin Elliott.  
Before retirement, he owned Tri-County Tire Goodyear Store.  
Through his life he was active in the Jaycees, Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.  He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Joe Poston Sunday School Class, was an avid fisherman and loved to fly small airplanes.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Weldon Elliott.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anne; mother, Ethel Brown of Hollywood, SC; daughter, Sandy (John) Leggett of Fairmont, NC; grandsons, Jake and Blake Leggett; step-daughters, Dawn (Pat) Callahan and Kim (Joey) Rogers; step-grandchildren, Drew and Emma Rogers, all of Greenwood, SC; sisters, Bobbie Jean (Pete) Munn of Florence, Pearle (Mick) Baker of Yongs Island, SC and Pat (Lloyd) Roberts of Lexington; “adopted” brother, Lloyd (Margaret) Small of Nichols and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Elliott.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC  29648 or to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Greenville, SC.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Southside Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family  received friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service and other times at the residence, 3748 W. Palmetto Street.
