Warriors Down Pee Dee 8-7 for Region Win

The Dillon Christian School varsity boys came back from 6-1 in the fourth inning to down the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles 8-7 in seven innings Friday in Dillon.

Warrior Head Randy Carlyle was pleased with his young team’s efforts in this game against their top rival, the Golden Eagles. The first inning ended in a 1-1 tie. Good pitching and fielding kept both teams off the scoreboard in the second and third inning.

Pee Dee got hot in the top of the fourth inning, adding five runs for a 6-1 lead. The Warriors came back in the bottom of the fourth adding six runs of their own to take a 7-6 lead. The Golden Eagles and the Warriors were unable to advance the score in the fifth inning but the Golden Eagles tied the game at 7-7 in the top of the sixth. The Warriors added their eighth run in the bottom of the sixth off of Josh Price’s hit. Price kept the Golden Eagles off the board in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the win.

On the mound for the Warriors, Will Arnette posted three strikeouts and two walked batters with two runs in 3.1 innings; Landry Collins, posted two strikeouts, one walked batter, and a lone hit with three runs scored in 1.1 innings; and Josh Price posted two strikeouts, two walked batters, and one run scored in two innings. Price gets credit for the win.

At bat for the warriors, Connor Hamilton was 2-for-3 with three RBIs also getting to base on a walk; Douglas Bullock was 1-for-2; Jake Boykin was 1-for-3 adding a stolen base; Josh Price was 1-for-4 with two RBIs; Conner Anderson drew three walks with a RBI, Landry Collins got to base on a walk and got a RBI on a fielder’s choice; Ellison Rourke got to base on two walks; Will Arnette got to base on a walk; and Ethan Shackleford scored three runs as a pinch runner.

In the field, Will Arnette, Conner Hamilton, Landry Collins, and Isaac Hendrix played perfect defense with zero errors.

The Warriors played Tuesday against Robert E. Lee Academy and were scheduled to play Trinity/Byrnes Academy on Friday at 5pm in Florence.
