Vikings Earn 6-4 Win Over Flashes

The Latta Vikings picked up a 6-4 win over Johnsonville on Tuesday night at home in baseball action.

The Flashes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Latta’s Avery Berry picked up two RBIs in the bottom of the second as the Vikings scored five runners to take the lead. Johnsonville added two runs in the top of the fourth, but Latta responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to lead 6-3. The Flashes managed one more run in the fifth to trail 6-4, but neither team would cross the plate in the final two innings.

Travis Power got the win for the Vikings, and John Kever Love earned the save. Power pitched five innings for five hits, four runs, three earned runs, three walks, and five outs. Love pitched two innings for two hits and three outs.

Johnsonville’s Howell took the loss on the mound, pitching 3.3 innings for seven hits, six runs, five earned runs, and two outs.

Love also led Latta at bat at 2-for-3, and Berry went 1-for-3 with two RBI. The Vikings had eight hits and two errors in the game.

Johnsonville had seven hits and two errors, with Lee, Spring, and Prosser leading at bat.

Latta improved to 8-1 overall and remains undefeated in Region 8A with a 4-0 record.

The Vikings are scheduled to host Green Sea-Floyds on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and will be at Hannah-Pamplico on Tuesday, March 26.
