Lake View’s Lady Gators Bombard Bears for 13-3 Softball Win

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators took down the Carvers Bay Bears 13-3 Wednesday, March 6, scoring 11 runs in the first two innings.

The Lady Bears got on the board with a single run at the top of the first inning, but the Lady Gators brought in four runners in the bottom of the first to take control of the game. Lake View followed up with seven runs in the bottom of the second to take an 11-1 lead. Neither team crossed the plate in the third or fourth, but the Bears managed two runs in the top of the fifth and Lake View answered with two of their own in the bottom to end the game on the mercy rule.

Kayla Sanderson picked up the win on the mound, pitching all five innings for three outs, five hits, three runs, and one earned run. Chelsea Jones took the loss for Carvers Bay, pitching five innings for one out, 14 hits, 13 runs, nine earned runs, and two walks.

Amber Locklear led the Lady Gators at bat, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and picking up three RBI. Marissa Tyndall went 2-for-3 for Lake View with one RBI. Lake View had 14 hits and two errors in the win.

Scottie Stone led Carvers Bay at 2-for-3 and C. Jones went 1-for-3 with two RBI. The Lady Bears had five hits and two errors.

Lake View improves to 5-1 overall for the season as they prepare to host Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors tonight at 5:30 p.m. in non-league action.

On Wednesday, Lake View will be at Marion at 6:00 p.m. and on Friday, the Lady Gators will host Hannah-Pamplico at 5:30 p.m. to open region play. Make plans to attend home games to support our local teams!
