Latta’s Lady Vikings dropped their season opener 8-7 in extra innings on Monday night against Chesterfield.
Chesterfield’s L. Mungo hit the game winning single in the bottom of the eighth to score two runs for the Lady Rams.
The Rams were the 2012 Class A softball champions, sweeping Latta 7-0 and 15-1 in the championship series. The Rams have moved up to Class 2A for the 2013 season.
Anna Rogers took the loss for Latta, walking 10 with seven hits, seven earned runs, and 10 outs. J. Brock earned the win for Chesterfield, giving up six hits and eight walks with four earned runs and nine outs.
Raven Baxley led Latta at bat, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
This Friday, March 8, Latta will host West Florence at 6:30 p.m., and on Monday the Lady Vikings will host Conway at 5:30 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
