Lady Gators Take Down Trojans 48-28

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators defeated the Trojans 48-28 at Green Sea-Floyds on Tuesday night.

The Wild Gators outscored the Lady Trojans in every quarter, going 7-4, 15-5, and 12-7 in the first three. The Trojans tried to rally in the fourth, but Lake View still took the quarter 14-12 to seal the win.

Olivia McDaniel led Lake View with 20 points that included two three-pointers. Jasmine Ford added 14 points for the Gators with a three-pointer and Kayla Sanders added six with a three-pointer. Junetta Strickland added four points and Chelsea Williams sank a two-pointer, with Diayah Williams and Toni Nash each going 1-for-2 on free throws to add one point each.

Kayla Page and Junettta Strickland each grabbed six rebounds for the Gators, with Jasmine Ford, Chelsea Williams, Diayah Williams, and Toni Nash each picking up three. Olivia McDaniel grabbed two offensive rebounds and Kayla Sanderson and Jessica Cribb each picked up a defensive rebound.

McDaniel made eight steals inthe win, and Strickland made three, with Chelsea Williams and Sanderson each making two. Cribb and Ford had one steal each.

Ford led the team in assists with a total of six, and McDaniel made three with Sanderson and Page each making one. Page, Strickland, and Chelsea Williams each also made a block for Lake View.

The win improves Lake View’s record to 5-11 overall and 4-5 in Region 8A.

Lake View is scheduled to host Latta tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the final game of the regular season. Class A girls basketball playoffs are scheduled to begin on Monday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m.
