Wildcats Bounce Back for 66-53 Win Over Aynor

The Dillon Wildcats trailed in the first half but bounced back in the second on Friday night to claim a 66-53 win over the visiting Aynor Blue Jackets in Region 8-2A boys basketball action.

Aynor took a 12-10 lead in the first and went 15-14 in the second for a 27-24 lead at the half. But the Wildcats returned from the break to pour in the points, outscoring Aynor 21-12 and 21-14 in the third and fourth quarters to claim the win.

Jalik Bethea led Dillon with a game-high 17 points and Olajuman Fenton scored 16 for the Wildcats. Breon Page added nine points; Jaquan Knowlin scored eight; Julius Saunders earned seven; Eri’Reon Hayes added four; Avery McCall added three; and John Caulder scored two points in the win.

Hunter Windham led led Aynor with 12 points and Graham Harringon and Christian Buie each scored nine for the Blue Jackets. Chris Brown earned eight points; Brandon Young scored seven; and Hunter Chestnut, Ron Smith, Ashton Culick, and Zack Jenerette each added two points for Aynor.

The Wildcats improved to 13-7 overall with a 5-1 record in Region 8-2A.

Tonight, Dillon travels to Mullins to take on the Auctioneers at 6:00 p.m. On Friday, the Wildcats will host their first of three home games on the way to wrapping up the seasons. Dillon will host Marion at 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local teams!
