Wildcats Fall 54-50 to Latta’s Vikings, Trample Loris Lions 74-39

The Dillon Wildcats fell to the Latta Vikings on the road Wednesday but defeated the Loris Lions 74-39 on Thursday night in boys basketball action.

On Wednesday, Dillon jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and outscored Latta 11-9 in the second to lead 27-14 at the half. But the Vikings came alive in the third to outscore Dillon 22-10 and cut the Wildcat lead to one point at 37-36. In the final quarter, the Vikings managed to hang on to outscore Dillon 18-13 and claim the 54-50 non-region win.

Ken’Che Page led Latta with a game-high 21 points and Tyrell Sabb added 18 points in the win. Travise Kinney and Jordan Smith each earned five points and Ty’Sean Burgess scored three with Darren Pernell adding two.

Olajuwan Fenton led Dillon in the loss with 18 points and Shaqui Cabbagestalk contributed 10. John Caulder scored six for the Wildcats and Gabriel Salmon, Jalik Bethea, and Eri’Reon Hayes each added four points with Breon Page and Gerome McLeod each adding two.

On Thursday, the Wildcats traveled to Loris for a 74-39 win over the Lions. Olajuwan Fenton led the Wildcats in the win with 14 points.

With the week’s games, Dillon is now 11-7 overall and 3-1 in Region 8-2A.

Dillon will travel again tonight to face Waccamaw and on Friday, the Wildcats will be back home to host Aynor. Basketball action starts at 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend home games to support our local teams!
