Latta’s Lady Vikings remained undefeated in Region 8A with a 64-26 win over Hannah-Pamplico on Tuesday night.
The Lady Vikings jumped out to an 11-7 lead in the first and outscored the Lady Raiders 20-4 in the second for a 31-11 lead at the half. Both teams added 11 points in the third, and Latta wrapped up the game with a 22-5 fourth quarter for their third region win.
TaKeria Legette led Latta with a game-high 22 points and Tianna Deberry poured in 21 points in the win. Brittany Burgess added 10, Maya Wright earned five, and Mallory Townsend and Jessica Evans each scored three with Mya McDaniel adding one point for the Lady Vikings.
Hannah-Pamplico was led by Talecia Murphy with six points and Logan Jordan and Jazaria Eaddy with five points each. Emily Pyett scored four, Halley Ard scored three, and Marqueyta Timmons and Sharane Fleming each added two points.
Latta’s record improves to 10-1 overall with an undefeated 3-0 in Region 8A. The Lady Vikings were recently ranked fourth in the state in Class A girls basketball by the South Carolina Coaches Association. Timmonsville, Hemingway, and C.E. Murray topped the list.
The Lady Vikings were scheduled to host Dillon on Wednesday night and will be hosting Lake View on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Johnsonville on Tuesday, January 22, at 6:00 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
