Bulldogs Bully Wildcats 64-52, But Lady Cats Down Marlboro 48-30

The Dillon Wildcats took a 64-52 loss from the visiting Bulldogs, but the Lady Wildcats earned a 48-30 win over Marlboro County on Wednesday, December 5.

The Lady ‘Cats took a 7-4 lead in the first quarter and outscored Marlboro 14-6 in the second for a 21-10 lead at the half. The Bulldogs rallied to outscore Dillon 11-8 in the third, but Dillon responded by adding 19 points in the fourth to seal the 48-30 win.

Dillon’s Nakedra Page led all scorers with a game-high 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Khamele Manning added 12 with Brianna Lee and Dakerhia Samuel each adding eight.

Raquelle Shaw led Marlboro with eight points, with Taquria Quick adding five and Kadeja Bridges earning four.

In boys’ basketball action, the Wildcats took their first loss of the season as the Bulldogs ran wild through most of the game, outscoring Dillon 12-5, 15-4, and 22-8 in the first first three quarters for a 49-27 lead heading into the final period. The Wildcats poured in the points in the fourth, outscoring Marlboro 25-15, but they fell short of closing the gap at 64-52.

Jalon Johnson led Marlboro with a game-high 12 points. Travis McRae added 11 points for the Bulldogs; London Johnson, 8; Floydreek Davis, 7; Tyreek Blair, 6; Kijana Johnson, 5; Raheem Ward, 4; Andre Underwood, 4; Deon Murray, 3; and Fred Brown and Demetrius Knox each added two points.

John Caulder led Dillon with a team-high 10 points, followed by Jalik Bethea with nine and Breon Page and Shaqui Cabbagestalk with eight points each. Eri’Reon Hayes scored seven, Jaquan Knowlin earned five, and Maurice Williams scored three, with Julius Saunders adding two points for the Wildcats.

The Lady Wildcats are now 3-0 in the regular season while the boys are now 2-1.

Both varsity teams were set to host Lake View on Monday night. Dillon will take the rest of the week off but will return to action against the Bulldogs in Marlboro County on Monday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m.
