Diamondbacks Battle Back to Claim Win in CSA Championship Shootout

The 8U Dillon Diamondbacks won first place in the CSA’s Great Pumpkin Fall Brawl IV in Freedom Florence on Saturday, October 27, and Sunday, October 28.

On Saturday, they won their two pool games with wins over the Hotstyx, 17-2, and the Bamberg Blaze, 18-4. In the first double elimination game, the Diamondbacks lost 6-4 to the Laurinburg All-Stars.

On Sunday, coming out of the losers bracket, the Diamondbacks had two come from behind victories in extra innings. Down two in extra innings, the Diamondbacks scored three to beat the Bamberg Blaze 8-7. Then, down three in extra innings, the Diamondbacks scored four to beat the Laurinburg All-Stars 9-8 and advance to play the Palmetto Fury.

The Diamondbacks beat the Palmetto Fury 7-3 to force a one-inning shootout for the championship. Down four in the shootout, the Diamondbacks scored five in the bottom half of the inning to complete a third unbelievable comeback on the day to capture the championship, their second in a row.
