Although the Latta Vikings have shown a lot of improvement over the course of the season, they weren’t able to keep momentum going against the undefeated Flashes as Johnsonville claimed a 41-14 win in Latta on Friday.

The Vikings got on the board in the first quarter with a 69-yard run from RJ McClam and an extra point from Chase Ray. The Flash offensive was slow to start, but Tately Anderson’s defensive touchdown early in the second quarter got the ball rolling. Anderson scored on an 83-yard run to leave Johnsonville trailing 7-6 with 10:42 remaining in the first half.

With less than five minutes in the second quarter, Dontrey McFadden scored on a nine-yard run and then followed up with a two point conversion to give Johnsonville a 14-7 lead. Tushai Edwards added another touchdown for the Flashes on a 68-yard run, and a successful kick from Gage Ard put Johnsonville in the driver’s seat at 21-7.

Brison Allison scored a four-yard run for the Flashes in the third, and scored again early in the fourth on a 15-yard run. Dameion Mitchum scored on the conversion on a pass from Cordea Wilson to widen the lead to 35-7. With 4:46 left in the game, McFadden scored his second touchdown of the night on a six-yard run, but a failed kick left the score at 41-7.

With 2:34 remaining in the game, McClam scored on a 22-yard run and Chase Ray kicked in the extra point for the final score of 41-14.

Johnsonville’s Edwards rushed for 145 yards for nine carries, McFadden rushed for 83 yards on 13 carries, and Allison rushed for 58 yards on 14 carries.

Johnsonville remains undefeated with a 7-0 record and a 2-0 region record. Latta is now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 8A.

The Flashes will travel to Lake View on Friday to take on the Wild Gators, while Latta will host Green Sea Floyds at 7:30 p.m. The Trojans are 1-6 heading into the matchup. Make plans to attend!
