The end of the year celebration for East Elementary School faculty and staff was held on May 25, 2012 at Charcoal Grill.
A delicious meal was enjoyed before award presentations. Everyone was welcomed by Bobbie Walters, Principal, and Mary Ann Oxendine, committee chair. Others recognized were faculty and staff that retired and will not return next year. They are: Betty Ann Miles (second grade teacher) and Karen Jernigan (first grade teacher). Robin Ford (attendance secretary) and Pam Braswell (second grade teacher) will also be leaving. LaMecisa Bethea was recognized as Teacher of the Year and Susan King was recognized as Paraprofessional of the Year. Barbara Thomas was recognized for having perfect attendance for the year. Karen Jernigan gave the benediction, and Mrs. Walters wished everyone a happy and safe summer.
