Lady Wildcats Ranked Number 1 in Class 2A Softball Coaches Poll

The latest South Carolina Softball Coaches polls ranked Dillon’s Lady Wildcats as the number one team in South Carolina’s Class AA division.

The Wildcats rose to first place as they maintained an undefeated 11-0 regular season record. The Wildcats currently lead Region 8-2A with an undefeated 6-0 record. Dillon’s only losses came in tournaments, where they fell to Chesterfield in the pre-season and Class 3A’s Hartsville in a close 2-1 game in Cheraw’s Spring Break tournament. Including tournaments, Dillon’s overall record is 16-2.

Crescent rose to second with a 10-4 record, while Palmetto dropped from first to third with a 16-4. Andrew Jackson improved to fourth place, Swansea finished fifth, and Gilbert and Barnwell tied for sixth. Buford took eighth, Silver Bluff held on to ninth place, and Bishop England and Andrews tied for tenth.

In Class A, Abbeville and Chesterfield retained the top two spots as Abbeville remained undefeated at 14-0. Green Sea Floyds rose to third place with an undefeated 10-0 record, and Landrum maintained fourth while East Clarendon slipped from third to fifth.

Latta held on to it’s sixth place ranking with an 8-3 record. Ninety-Six and Blacksburg swapped seventh and eighth positions, and Fox Creek and McBee tied for ninth.
