Mr. Roscoe Cox passed away at his home in Lake View, SC on April 4, 2012.
He was born in Dillon County on October 26, 1928, the son of the late Ed and Euthia Cox of Lake View. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Cox, one sister, Edna Clark, and one brother, Foster Cox of Lake View.
He is survived by his daughter, Betty Cox-Smith of Lake View, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Cox-Smith of Charleston, SC, and a special nephew, James (Cricket) Cox of Lake View.
Surviving Mr. Cox also are two brothers, Bunny Cox of Lake View and Pee Wee Cox of Florence, SC, two sisters, Coleen Miller and Kathleen McKenzie, both of Lake View, SC.
After a brief time in the Marines, Mr. Cox married Dorothy Cox and began a long career of farming. Mr. Cox worked very hard all his life. He enjoyed growing things and sharing them with family and friends. His hobbies were working and fishing.
Mr. Cox was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Community Home Care and Hospice, Ms. Donna Rogers, Mrs. Judy Hyatt, and Mrs. Joyce Rouse for their genuine concern and care.
The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, April 6, 2012 at Cooke’s Funeral Home in Lake View, SC. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Sat., April 7, 2012 at Lake View Cemetery, directed by Cooke Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Dillon County Animal Shelter, 1020 Old Latta Hwy., Dillon SC 29536.
