Ann Dew Stokes, 69, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Stokes was born in Dillon Co., SC a daughter of the late John Major Dew and Sara White Dew. She was a former employee of SC State Commission of the Blind, and had worked at Saunders Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Stokes attended Community Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of Catfish Creek Baptist Church in Latta.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William Edward Dew and Lewis Major Dew.
Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Wesley Stokes of Florence; brothers, James Earl (Judy) Dew and David Mitchell (Jane) Dew both of Latta; sister, Barbara Dew (Charles) Smith of Latta; brother-in-law, James Stokes of Merry Hill, NC; sisters-in-law, Barbara Griffin of Florence and Toni Skipper Dew of Marion; a special friend, James Hayes of Latta, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Florence Dialysis Center on Cashua Drive for the care they gave to Ann through the years.
Funeral service were held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, 2011 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 2-3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
