New Program Helps Co-op Members Manage Home Energy Usage

Pee Dee Electric Cooperative’s i-on energy® is a new program designed to help residential co-op members monitor and manage their home’s energy usage. The i-on energy® dashboard is a one-stop online destination for personalized home energy data. Gone are the days of having to wait on monthly bills to learn how much energy you’re using.
i-on energy® is free, and after completing a Home Profile, members will see:
· How the weather is affecting the bill
· Details how their home is using energy
-heating/cooling, hot water, lighting, food storage, cooking
· How their home compares to similar PDEC homes
· Energy Use in near real-time (up to yesterday’s use) – down to the hour
· Ways to save and improve their home
· And much, much more……
Providing members with information in near real-time, and personalized ways to save will help make a significant impact on their bill. According to Jeff Singletary, Manager Energy Efficiency & Conservation, “for example, a small ? inch gap at the bottom of a door is equal to a 3 – 4 inch hole in your wall. Sealing that gap can keep money in your pocket.”
