Lake View’s Jaquana Davis Named Region 8-A Player of the Year

Lake View’s Jaquana Davis has been named the Region 8-A Player of the Year for the 2010-2011 basketball season.

Davis is a senior at Lake View high school and co-captain of the Lady Gators basketball team. She was also named MVP last season.

Davis earned her season-high 38 points in the January 25 game against Johnsonville and has averaged around 20.5 points per game. Davis was the teams’ lead scorer in the regular season, earning 241 points total, nearly half of the team total of 526.

Davis has also made a reported 81 out of 94 free throw attempts, according to stats entered on MaxPreps.com. She picked up 106 total rebounds in the regular season, averaging 9.6 per game and picking up a season-high 14 in Lake View’s December 10 game against Aynor. In addition, Davis made a team-high total of 31 blocks and made 31 steals this season.

Earlier this season, Lake View Coach Martha Jones named Davis her player of the week, saying that Davis “is a hard working player and leader on this team. She’s our third coach, and I’m proud of her!”
