A Win, A Loss for Lady Warriors

The Lady Warriors of the Dillon Christian School earned a hard-fought victory over Florence Christian on Thursday before falling to Carolina Academy by 10 points on Friday.

In the first matchup, DCS brought down the Florence Christian Eagles 49-48. The Lady Warriors managed to outscore the Eagles in the first three quarters with scores of 14-13, 17-10, and 14-12. The Eagles rallied in the fourth, 13-4, but still came up short.

Amber Wiggins led the Lady Warriors with a team-high 19 points and 21 rebounds. Wiggins also had 10 steals and three assists.

Morgan Graham added 14 points, including one three-pointer, and seven rebounds, 10 steals, and five assists. Kylee Sullivan and Amanda Bass each made seven points, with three of Bass’s points coming from a successful three-pointer. Sullivan and Bass also each had three rebounds and one steal.

Lauren Lee added two points to the win, along with two rebounds and two assists. Kathryn Brown made three rebounds, and Emily Prutzman made two rebounds, two steals, and two assists.

On Friday, January 7, the Lady Cats traveled to Carolina Academy but were defeated 36-46 by the Lady Bobcats.

DCS led the first quarter by one point, 12-11, but Carolina Academy outscored them in the remaining three quarters, 10-8, 14-10, and 11-6, to secure the win.

The Lady Warriors were led by Morgan Graham who scored a team-high of 12 points. Lauren Lee added nine, and Amber Wiggins, Kylee Sullivan, and Amanda Bass each added four points. Kathryn Brown added three more points for DCS.

Samantha Sparrow led the Bobcats with a game-high 25 points. Also scoring for the Bobcats were Emily McEleven, 12; Lizzie Heath, 6; Kylie Floyd, 2; and Scarlett Boyd, 1.

The Lady Warriors will next host Trinity Collegiate on Tuesday, January 11, followed by Pee Dee Academy on Friday, January 14.

Meanwhile, the DCS boys team fell to Florence Christian on Thursday, 40-55. Stats were not available at press time.

The Warriors were scheduled to host New Prospect Christian on Monday, January 10, followed by Trinity Collegiate on Tuesday, and Pee Dee Academy on Friday.
