Ellis Performing Arts Center was the stage for the signings of Dylan Oakley Brewer and Noah Henderson, two outstanding Latta High School baseball athletes, on Wednesday, November 14, at 10:30 a.m.
Latta High School principal Leigh Sloan stated that these two young men were student athletes who not only played baseball well but also were good in the classrooms. Brewer took another step in his baseball career when he signed with Clemson University, and Noah Henderson pursued his dream by signing with Francis Marion University. Since the age of 4 Brewer has dedicated his life to his pursuit of baseball greatness. Brewer plays centerfield or pitches for the Latta Vikings. Dylan’s Father, Jeff Hyatt, influenced him most in this sport. Although Dylan has played quarterback for the Latta Vikings, he also stars in baseball. Brewer has attained much while playing under the leadership of Latta High School Vikings baseball Coach Donald Cribb, especially Cribb’s wisdom. Brewer has learned discipline and humility in the past few years. Brewer will always cherish the memory of the state championship that he shared with the players in Latta. Dylan picked up many awards while playing for the Vikings including All-State, All-Region, All Diamond Prospect Team, and the Florence Morning News Player of The Year. Although Dylan received offers from North Greenville University, Francis Marion University, Newberry, Florence Darlington Tech, and a Preferred Walk-on at the University of South Carolina, Brewer believes he will fit in at Clemson as he really likes the coaches, staff, and facilities where he will major in Elementary Education. Dylan’s brother, a former Latta High graduate, Christian Hendrix plays baseball at Anderson University. In Brewer’s spare time, he enjoys playing Fortnite and hanging out with his friends, family, and girlfriend when he is not practicing or playing baseball or football. Brewer’s parents, Jeff and Keisha Hyatt are very proud of all of his accomplishments. “The Good Lord blessed him and paved a path for a bright future! We pray he takes all he has been given and learned along the way to better himself in Tiger Town! We love you, Son!” These are only a few of the wonderful comments his parents stated about Dylan. Noah Henderson, also a product of Latta High School, is happy to further his baseball career at Francis Marion University where he will major in Business. Henderson likes the campus and believes he can be an asset to the team as a pitcher and contribute to the environment that already exists there. I know that Francis Marion has a good program. Henderson also received offers from North Greenville, Newberry, and Florence Darlington Tech. Noah’s Father, Chad, influenced him in the only sport he has played for 13 years. He, too, like Dylan, is still excited about the State Championship that Latta High School won in baseball. Both were privileged and proud to be a part of the championship team! Henderson, like Brewer, was privileged to be under the guidance and wisdom of baseball Coach Don Cribbs. Noah also received many awards including All Diamond Prospect Team. Henderson enjoys hanging out with friends and family. He also enjoys Fortnite. Noah’s parents, Chad and Reeanna Henderson, are very proud of their son. “This accomplishment reflects the endless hours of hard work Noah has put into securing his dream of playing college baseball. We look forward to cheering on the Patriots”, stated his parents. Latta Athletic Director Aaron Miles stated “Noah and Dylan are both wonderful student athletes performing in the classroom and on the field. I look forward to seeing them pursue their dreams of playing college baseball.” Latta High School head varsity baseball coach Donald Cribb really hates that these two young men are seniors. Coach Cribb stated “Both have been a big part of our success in winning the Lower State baseball title and state last year since being on the varsity team. These two young men stepped up to the varsity level in the tradition set for them by other members of the team. Both are very good representatives of what our team is about. I am very proud of them, and they will do well at the next level.”
