John Douglas “Johnny” Sapp, Sr.

      John Douglas “Johnny” Sapp, Sr., 68, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at McLeod Seacoast in Little River.
     Services will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Dillon with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home.

     Born in Dillon County, SC, December 19, 1947, he was the son of
the late Jack Sapp and Edna Cottingham Sapp. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and was employed as the Administrator at the Dillon County Detention Center. He was a former Chief Deputy with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, where he served over 30 years of law enforcement in Dillon County. He was a Volunteer Fireman with the City of Dillon Fire Department, and was a member of Twin Lakes Country Club. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran having served in the Vietnam War.

     Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathy Sapp of the home; children, John Douglas Sapp, Jr. of Dillon, Alycia K Sapp, and Kara D. Sapp, both of the home; grandchildren, Rebecca L. Sapp, Hunter McKenzie, John D. “Trey” Sapp, III, Kaitlyn McKenzie, and Lauryn White; brothers, Donald (Teresa) Sapp of North Myrtle Beach, and David (Darcy) Sapp of Georgetown.
