Lady Warriors Looking to Improve

Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors have had a few rough seasons, but they are looking to improve in 2015.

Head Coach Norm Norton, now in his third year as head coach and his 25th year of coaching, says the team’s goal this season is to win at least half of their games.

The schedule is much the same, with Florence Christian being one of the biggest challenges ahead for the Warriors.

The Warriors lost two seniors, Sarah Fitzgibbon and Greta Seay, but added Myra Bracey, and will return the same coaching staff from last season. Norton also says several of his returning players are improved since last season. This year’s team includes four returning seniors: Jamie Carpenter, Madison King, Emilie Martin, and Ansley Hamer.

Norman says the team has the most experience on the mound and in the outfield, but that the Lady Warriors will need to pay close attention to catching. Dillon Christian will also be looking to fill the short stop and first base positions this season.

The Lady Warriors opened the regular season on Tuesday night with an 11-0 loss to Robert E. Lee Academy. King led the Warriors with two hits in the effort, and Carpenter took the loss on the mound.
