Warriors Improve to 4-1 with Three Big Wins

The Dillon Christian School Warriors improved to 4-1 in boys varsity basketball with wins over Robert E. Lee Academy, Clarendon Hall, and Williamsburg Academy last week.

The Warriors defeated Robert E. Lee Academy 59-55 on Tuesday, December 10, with Tyler Davis leading the way with a team-high 26 points.

Davis hit 10 two-pointers and went 6-for-6 on free throws with seven rebounds in the win. Will Brown added 17 points for the Warriors with three 3-pointers and went 6-for-6 on free throws with one rebound, one steal, and four assists.

Jim Carr hit two three-point shots for six points and picked up one rebound with three assists; Mark Minges went 2-for-3 on free throws and sank a two-pointer for four points while picking up a team-high eight rebounds with one steal; Matthew Price earned four points from two two-point shots and grabbed four rebounds with one steal; Luke Price sank a two-pointer with two rebounds and a steal; Thomas Evans made an assist; Ellison Rourke grabbed a rebound; and Matt Jordan picked up six rebounds in the win.

On Thursday, December 12, the Warriors hosted Clarendon Hall and picked up a 66-21 win over the Saints. The Warriors outscored the Saints in every quarter, getting off to a 15-4 lead in the first and going 19-12, 20-4, and 12-1 in the remaining quarters.

Clarendon Hall’s Wes Keller led the Saints with a team-high nine points; Dustin Way added 5; Daniel Pappas, Raj Patel, and Gary Elenbark each added two; and Ethan Hughes earned one point in the loss.

The Warriors wrapped up the first month of action on Friday, December 13, when they traveled to Williamsburg Academy for a 61-57 win over the Stallions.

Tyler Davis led the Warriors with a game-high 34 points and 18 rebounds. Davis sank 12 two-point shots and went 10-for-10 on free throws. He also led the Warriors with two assists and two blocks, and made one steal for DCS.

Will Brown earned 11 points for the Warriors with two three-pointers and 5-of-5 free throws and picked up two rebounds with one steal. Matthew Price sank a two-point shot and four of five free throw attempts for six points, and also picked up four rebounds with two steals. Matt Jordan hit two two-point attempts for four points and grabbed two rebounds; Jim Carr sank a three-pointer; Luke Price made three of four free throws, grabbed seven rebounds, and made one block; Mark Minges picked up two rebounds with an assist; and Ellison Rourke made one assist.

The Warriors improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in SCISA Region 2-2A basketball.

The Warriors will be on holiday break until Tuesday, January 7, when they will return to action at Trinity/Byrnes.

GIRLS

The Lady Warriors fell 65-22 to Clarendon Hall on Thursday, December 12. The Lady Saints took an 18-3 lead in the first and outscored the Warriors 20-3, 16-13, and 11-3 in the remaining quarters for the win.

Abigail Jenkinson scored a game-high 23 points and Shannon Corbett added 21 in the win for the Saints.
