Lady Vikings Earn 79-39 Win over Gators

Latta’s Lady Vikings took a 79-39 win over Lake View on Friday night in a battle of local rivals.

The Vikings jumped out to an 18-9 lead in the first quarter and dominated the rest of the game, outscoring Lake View 20-9, 17-8, and 25-13 in the remaining quarters for the win.

Tianna Deberry led Latta with 21 points, including three 3-point shots, and Jessica Evans added 19 points in the win. TaKeria Legette sank three 3-pointers and went 2-for-2 on free throws to add 15 points in the win, and Brittany Burgess earned 14 points for the Lady Vikings. Maya Wright scored six, and Mallory Townsend added four for Latta.

Wright grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and Legette grabbed seven. Deberry picked up five, Burgess snagged four, Townsend had two, and Evans grabbed one offensive rebound. Burgess, Deberry, and Evans each made three steals in the game, with Legette adding two. Burgess made a team-high eight assists and one block, and Deberry and Evans made four assists each, with Townsend, Legette, and Wright each assisting twice.

Olivia McDaniel led Lake View with 16 points and Tranya Ford added 14 for the Lady Wild Gators. Jasmine Ford scored four, Kayla Sanderson earned three, and Chelsea Williams added two.

The Lady Vikings are now 11-2 overall with an undefeated 4-0 in Region 8-A. The Lady Wild Gators slip to 2-8 overall with a 1-3 region record.

Tonight, Latta will host Johnsonville at 6:00 p.m. The Lady Flashes are 6-8 overall and also hold a 4-0 record in Region 8-A.

Lake View will host the Green Sea-Floyds Trojans tonight at 6:00 p.m. and on Friday, they’ll travel to Hannah-Pamplico to face the Raiders.
