New S.C. Historical Society Educational Coordinator To Offer Free Resources To Dillon County Schools And Others, Oversee Other Statewide Initiatives

The South Carolina Historical Society (SCHS) has appointed Bailey Knight as its first Educational and Volunteer Coordinator. In this newly-created role, Knight will oversee education initiatives and outreach for teachers, students and schools throughout South Carolina that promote the SCHS and its archival resources.

Oliver Wins Award

Frank Oliver, the chief executive officer at Wildlife Action, Inc. in Mullins was honored by the Francis Marion University Department of Biology Tuesday, Oct. 3 with the presentation of the Lawrence F. Swails Award.

Final Order Issued In L.O.S.T. Case

The Honorable Michael G. Nettles, Circuit Court Judge, has issued a final order filed Thursday which held that Dillon County’s Council acted unlawfully when it, by a 4-3 vote, included Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) funds historically allocated to the Dillon County Board of Education in its own budget.
