Solar Farm Is 85 Percent Complete

The new solar farm in Lake View is about 85 percent complete, according to Economic Development Director Tonny McNeil.
The farm is located at 2605 State Highway 9 in the area of Ayers Loop. The new five-megawatt (MW) utility-scale solar farm will be capable of providing power to 2,000 homes, McNeil said. It is located on 60 acres.
The county will receive $45,000 per year in new taxes.
“Renewable energy is a major part of our Economic Development Plan and is a major factor when it comes to putting Dillon County back to work,” said, McNeil.
Pine Gate Renewables, a renewable energy company, is launching a new solar farm in Dillon County under Freedom Solar LLC. The development is projected to bring $7.5 million of new capital investment.
In order to make utility-scale solar an option on a large scale, Pine Gate Renewables is intent on contributing to the broad transformation of the United States’ energy model. Based in Charlotte, N.C. with additional offices in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. and Asheville, N.C., Pine Gate Renewables is a U.S. solar developer that specializes in project finance, land origination, project development management and community outreach.
