City Of Dillon To Host State Softball Championship

Since 2002, the City of Dillon has been selected twelve (12) times to host a Dixie Youth and or a Dixie Softball State Championship. Beginning Saturday, July 8, twenty-four (24) teams will begin playing for the right to advance to the 2017 Dixie Softball World Series.
The Parks and Recreation Department will host three different divisions that will be played at the Sports Complex, with each division having eight teams, Darlings (8 & under), Angels X-Play (10 & under) and Ponytails X-Play (12 & under). Each tournament is a double elimination format with games scheduled for Saturday, July 8 beginning at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, July 9 starting at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 10 starting at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11 starting at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, July 12 Championship Day will begin at 10:00 a.m. In the Darlings division, game #1, Dillon will play District 1 Champion, Aynor at 10 a.m. on field A, game #2, Bluffton, District 6 Champion and District 2 Champion, Lancaster will begin at 11:15 a.m., Walhalla, District 7 Champion vs. District 3 Champion Pamplico at 12:30 p.m. and Midland Valley District 4 Champion vs. District 5 Champion Byrnes at 1:45 p.m.
In the Angels X-Play, Dillon and Georgetown will meet at 10:15 a.m. on field D followed by Bluffton and Lancaster at 12:15 p.m., Aynor and Union County at 2:15 p.m., and Andrews vs. Florence at 4:15 p.m..
In the Ponytails X-Play, Dillon vs. Florence at 10:30 a.m., Aynor vs. Georgetown at 12:30 p.m., Lancaster and Byrnes at 2:30 p.m. and Andrews and Hartsville at 4:30 p.m. to end the first day of this double elimination tournament.
