Dillon VFW Named All-American Post

DILLON VFW NAMED ALL-AMERICAN POST: On December 9th, members of the Dillon VFW Post 6091 leadership team traveled to Murrells Inlet to attend the District 7 VFW quarterly meeting. South Carolina District 7 includes VFW Posts in Dillon, Georgetown, Kingstree, Little River, Mullins, Murrells Inlet, and Summerton. At the meeting, the Dillon VFW Post was named an All-American Post at the VFW national level. Selection is based upon a VFW Post 1. successfully increasing and retaining members, 2. timely submit a Post election report, 3. successfully promoting school essay contests on patriotism through the VFW Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy programs, 4. financially contribute to VFW Veteran military support programs, 5. actively participate in community service by helping Veterans and their families, promoting Americanism, promoting youth programs, teaching safety, and helping with local military activities and programs, 6. recognize a school teacher who teaches students about flag etiquette, the constitution, and military service, and finally 7. promoting Buddy Poppies to financially help disabled and needy Veterans. Accepting the award from District 7 Commander Ed Valentine (Army) was Dillon VFW Post Commander John Harlow (USMC) along with members of the Post leadership team, Post Junior Vice Commander Timmy Hooks (Army), Post Quartermaster Joey Williams (USAF), and Post Adjutant Jamie M. Hamilton (Army). The Dillon Post was also awarded an All-American Post streamer to add to its Post flag.
