Rose Merry Farmer Bethea, 78, died December 26, 2023. Funeral services will be held at Latta United Methodist Church on Saturday December 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Dothan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary prior to the service. Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta is assisting the family
Rose Merry was born September 6, 1945 in Florence SC the daughter of John Philip and Nettie Cunningham Farmer. She grew up in Florence
attending area schools and graduating from McClenaghan High School (1963). She attended Winthrop College and was graduated from Francis Marion College. She later received her Master’s Degree from Francis Marion University. She taught Mathematics in the Dillon and Latta School Systems.
She was an active menber of Latta United Methodist Church and loved being a member of the Women’s Bible Class. She enjoyed playing Bridge,
Crossword puzzles, being a member of Garden Club and the Wesleyan Circle.
Rose Merry was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 50 years, A. Vic Bethea lll. She is survived by a daughter, Wendy Bethea Carey (Brian) of Spartanburg, a son Andrew (Andy) Bethea (Ann) of Latta; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth C Self (Taylor), Caroline Carey(John Ewing), Patrick Carey, Nicholas (Nic) Bethea (Erika), Madison Smith (Alec), Philip Bethea, Morgan Oakes and Jackson Bethea.; two great grandchildren Carston Bethea abd McKenzie Bethea; a brother Phil Farmer (Beth), a brother in law Dr Robert P Bethea (Leslie); dearest friend Sally Parham (Tommy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
