Recently Dillon County 4-H wrapped up our 4th Annual 4-H Scarecrow Decorating Contest. We had 12 businesses and 4 schools participate in the contest this year. Each year we enjoy seeing the creative talent in our county. The People’s Choice award was awarded to the display that received the most “likes” on our county Facebook page. This year we made two categories: business/residents and a school division. The People’s Choice award for the business/residents category was The Lake View Supermarket with their Wizard of Oz-themed display. Latta Middle/High School was our school category’s People’s Choice winner with their nod to 4-H and FFA display. Our judges’ pick from both categories combined was The City of Dillon’s owl-themed display. We reached over 14,000 views on our Facebook post highlighting each display and attracted more youth members making this year’s contest a huge success. Thanks to all who participated, voted, and helped us shine a light on our county 4-H program.
