Latta Improves Record To 4-0 With Win Over Lee Central

The Latta Vikings returned home Friday, September 8, from Lee Central with win number 4 for this season with a score of 31-0 in varsity football action.
The Latta Vikings had 57 plays in the game while holding Lee Central to 37 plays. Latta had 457 total yards in the game of which 83 were passing yards and 334 were rushing yards. Latta connected for 19 first downs in the game and was 8 for 12 in the third down efficiency. Latta also had a fourth down conversion for a first down.
Latta was penalized 4 times for 20 yards in the game.
In the first quarter, Latta’s Jamarion Jones rushed for a 15-yard touchdown and the PAT was good to give Latta a 7-0 lead. La”Bron Cobb rushed for an 11-yard touchdown; the PAT was no good. Latta was up 13-0. Jamarion Jones connected for a 45-yard score. The 2-point conversion was good. Latta led 21-0 after the first quarter of play.
In the second quarter of play, Jamarion Jones rushed for a 28-yard touchdown and the PAT was good to give Latta a 28-0 lead.
In the third quarter, the Vikings connected for a field goal to go up 31-0.
La’Bron Cobb completed 6 of 12 passes for 83 yards and rushed 14 times for 87 and his longest run was 16 yards. Jamarion Jones rushed 19 times for 236 yards, 3 touchdowns, and his longest run was 45 yards. Amir Rogers rushed 1 time for 6 yards, and X’Mari Bethea rushed once for 5 yards.
Purnell Legette had 5 receptions for 78 yards with the longest reception of 23 yards. Kartrell Townsend had a reception for 5 yards.
On defense: Eli Jones had 9 tackles. Kartrell Townsend and Dorian Griffin each had 8 tackles. X’Mari Bethea had 6 tackles and a tackle for a loss. Slaydon Strickland had 6 tackles. Enriquez Purnell had 4 tackles. Michael McKenzie had 3 tackles and a tackle for a loss. Amir Rogers had a tackle and a tackle for a loss. Purnell Legette, Tyquan Drawhorn, and Fischer Ricardson each had a tackle.
Latta will host Johnsonville on Friday, September 15, at 7:30 p.m.
