The descendants of Emmaline McCoy and Columbus Manning gathered on July 4, 2023 for a family reunion hosted by Dr. Kenneth R. Manning.
Dr. Kenneth R. Manning welcomed everyone and gave reflections about the importance of family and traditions. A representative from each family (Jim Manning, Paul Manning Sr., Ella V. Manning Dudley, Calvin Manning Sr., and Russell Manning, Sr.) introduced their family members. The youngest family member at the reunion was Ahmir Green (two months old), the matriarch is Evang. Mildred Manning Tarte and the patriarch is Dr. Herman C. Manning. The blessing of the food was by Cedric Page. Then everyone enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Dr. Kenneth Manning, Parish Covington, Millie Odom and Harold Watson.
Dr. Miranda E. Page introduced the two descendants that received the Emmaline McCoy and Columbus Manning Scholarship. The recipients were: Tiniya Gilchrist and Mikiera McColl.
Tiniya is a junior at South Carolina State University and her major is Biology. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph (Felicia) Gilchrist and granddaughter of the Clee Ethel Manning Williamson, great-granddaughter of Mabel Manning, and the great-great-granddaughter of Ella V. Manning Dudley.
Mikiera McColl is a sophomore at Francis Marion University and majoring in Nursing.
She is the daughter of Clarissa Bethea and Marlin McColl, granddaughter of Claretha Manning, great granddaughter of Treadway Manning, Sr., and great-great-granddaughter of Russell Manning, Sr. Family members gathered for a group photo to document this wonderful occasion.
