Unity In The Community Underway

Unity In the Community began this year on Sunday, September 3, with Dr. James Orr of Pyerian Baptist Church conducting services at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Unity In the Community began September, 2021 with four sister churches who joined together each Sunday evening in one of the four churches for joint worship. The four churches were East Dillon Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church, Mount Calvary Baptist Church, and Pyerian Baptist Church. In September, 2022, four more churches joined the Unity in the Community churches from the previous year. These churches were Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Beulah Baptist Church, Little Rock Baptist Church, and Sardis Baptist Church.
On Sunday, September 3, the Prelude was by Miss Linda McKenzie. Rev. Harold Cooke welcomed everyone and had a prayer followed by Mount Calvary Music Director Gene Tanner leading the congregation in “We Have Heard The Joyful Sound”.
The quartet from Pyerian Baptist Church blessed the congregation with “When He Was On The Cross (I Was On His Mind)” and “I Am Sheltered In The Arms of God”.
Dr. James Orr’s sermon was from Matthew 16: 24-26.
Dr. Orr stated that we all ask something of Jesus, but Jesus wants something from all of us. Matthew 16: 24 states “The said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up the cross, and follow me.”
We need to allow Jesus to show up in us. We must deny oneself and acknowledge Jesus Christ.
We use all sorts of reasons not to read the Bible.
We must take up His cross and dedicate one’s self to Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ wants us to follow Him and be devoted to Him.
Matthew 16: 26 states “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul” or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Only the saving blood of Jesus Christ can get one into heaven.
Dr. Orr had prayer, and an invitation was given.
The postlude was by Miss Linda McKenzie.
On Sunday, Unity In Community will be conducted at East Dillon Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Cooke of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in charge of the service.
