The Hartsville Red Foxes beat the Scotland Fighting Scots 27-14 in the jamboree played in Dillon on Friday, August 11.
The Fighting Scots’ #2 pickup up 2 yards on the opening play of the game. Scotland’s quarterback fired a pass to #3 that was good for 3 yards. The Fighting Scots’ #2 was hit hard after he picked up a first down on Hartsville’s 40-yard line. Hartsville’s defense tipped a pass that was intercepted by #0 who carried the football 52 yards for the score! The Red Foxes’ #80’s PAT was good. Hartsville was up 7-0.
Hartsville quickly added another touchdown with 5:19 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was not good.
Scotland’s #2 scored with 1:57 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was good by #82 to cut the Red Foxes’ lead to 6 points, 13-7.
Hartsville’s #1 picked up a first down followed by Hartsville’s quarterback tossing a completion to #23 who scored. However, there was an ineligible player down field penalty against Hartsville that negated the play. The Red Foxes completed a pass to #1 for a big pick up to the Scotland’s 8-yard line. Hartsville’s #6 carried to the 1-yard line as time expired in the first quarter of play. Hartsville’s #24 scored with 11:19 remaining in the second quarter of play. The PAT was good by #82 to give Hartsville a 20-7 lead.
With 8:35 remaining in the quarter, Scotland’s #20 scored a touchdown. #82’s PAT was good to cut the Hartsville lead to 6 points.
With 4:53 remaining in the quarter, #23 for Hartsville tacked on a 6-point TD. The PAT by #80 was good. The Red Foxes were up 27-14 which would be the final score of the game as the Fighting Scots and the Red Foxes were unable to score again as time expired.
