Dillon County Council Passes Formal Resolution In Opposition To Alottabang, LLC

The Dillon County Council passed a formal resolution in opposition to the Alottabang, LLC proposed bomb training facility. It reads as follows:
A RESOLUTION
DILLON COUNTY
COUNCIL RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO
ALOTTABANG, LLC’S PROPOSED BOMB TESTING FACILITY
WHEREAS, on April 26, 2023, the Dillon County Council was informed of Alottabang, LLC’s proposed purchase of approximately six hundred acres of property in North Carolina for the purpose of constructing a facility (“the facility”) which will include detonation of large explosives; and
WHEREAS, the land Alottabang, LLC proposes to utilize for the facility borders Dillon County and requires access via an easement through Dillon County; and
WHEREAS, the Dillon County Council has concerns about the environmental impact of the facility, specifically as the facility includes Shoe Heel and Wilkinson Creeks which flow directly into the Little Pee Dee River; and
WHEREAS, the Dillon County Council is concerned about the damaging effects of massive explosions that will likely be felt for miles around the facility; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that Dillon County Council urges the Robeson County, North Carolina Board of Commissioners to reject Alottabang, LLC’s proposal.
AND IT IS SO RESOLVED BY Dillon County Council in meeting duly assembled this 24th day of May, 2023.
The Robeson County Board of Commissioners is expected to consider the proposal at their meeting on June 5th.
