Rain Doesn’t Stop The Faithful From Celebrating Easter

Mount Calvary Baptist Church held the annual Easter sunrise service at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 9, at 7:00 a.m. The service was held outside with Pastor Harold Cooke in charge of the service as the rain fell.
After opening with prayer, Rev. Harold Cooke welcomed everyone.
Music Director Gene Tanner led the congregation in 3 songs.
Rev. Cooke spoke from Mark 16 that outlined the Easter sunrise service. Pastor Cooke spoke also from Psalm 113, Psalm 69, Mark 9, Matthew 17, and Matthew 22:66 & 67.
Mary Magdalene and Mary, Mother of Jesus, went to the tomb to find it open. As they entered they noticed a heavenly man sitting on the right. He informed them not to be frightened…Jesus is not here; He is risen!
(It has been estimated that the stone that was on Jesus’ tomb weighed between 1 and one-half to 2 tons and estimated that it would take 20 “normal” men to move the stone.) We still have hope today. Mark 16, verses 7 and 8, Jesus tells us to go our way and tell people what He has done. Jesus previously told his disciples to go to Jerusalem and wait for Him.
Will you seek Jesus in your life? Will you run and tell others that Jesus is alive?
An invitation was given.
At the conclusion of the service, everyone was invited to enjoy breakfast at the Family Life Center.
At 9:00 a.m. Sunday School was held. Joe Price taught a large group for Sunday School.
Morning worship began at 10:00 a.m.
Pastor Cooke spoke from Luke 24:38. He said to them “Why are your troubled? Why do you doubt your hearts?
At invitation was given at the end of the service.
Mount Calvary Baptist Church is located at 405 Mount Calvary Road, Dillon.
