Latta Lady Vikings Defeat Auctioneers

The Latta Lady Vikings defeated the visiting Mullins Lady Auctioneers 73-34 in varsity basketball action played in Latta on Monday, December 12.
Latta was up by 12 points, 17-5 after the first period of play. By halftime, the Lady Vikings enjoyed a 32-16 lead. After 3 periods of play, Latta was up 57-22.
Latta’s Shawniza Bethea had three 3-point baskets, three 2-point baskets, and 8 free throws to lead all scorers with 23 points. Kaliya Herman had 22 points as she converted four 3-point baskets, three 2-point baskets, and 4 free throws. Kardae McFadden added 13 points to the scoreboard with five 2-point baskets and a 3-point basket. Anziya Jones had four 2-point baskets for 8 points.
The Lady Auctioneers were led by Mearrah Burroughs with 9 points as she connected with three 2-point baskets and 3 free throws and Autumn Worley with four 2-point baskets and a free throw. Jada Davis added two 2-point baskets and a free throw for 5 points. Jazmyne Rowell and Caelyn Morton each had a 2-point basket. Rianah Wright added a free throw.
Mullins committed 9 fouls in the first half and 5 fouls in the second half while Latta committed 10 fouls in the first half and 7 fouls in the second half.
Latta’s Head Coach is Coach Sandra Gomillion, and Mullins’ Head Coach is Coach Gerald.
Latta will travel to Lee Central Friday, December 16, for a 6:00 p.m. exhibition game.
Mullins will travel to West Florence Monday, December 19, for a 6:30 p.m. game.
