Latta Schools pushes students to reach their potential in all areas, whether it be math, science, or Agricultural Science.
Recently, four students reached for the stars on a variety of assessments and obtained phenomenal results. These students were celebrated by the Latta Schools Board of Trustees at the October Board Meeting.
Jacob Edwards is the son of Chris Edwards and Holley Edwards.
During his senior year, he earned the highest score on the International Baccalaureate Examination in the area of Biology.
He is the first student in the program to earn the highest score on this exam since this course was offered at Latta High School.
Jacob graduated as an honor graduate of Latta High School in May 2022. He is attending Francis Marion University and majoring in Biology (pre-medicine) with a plan to go to medical school. Erika Roberts is the current IB Biology teacher at Latta High School.
John Chesley Gasque is the son of Johnny Mac and Laura Gasque. He is a current senior at Latta High School and a participant in the agricultural program.
At the Future Farmers of America State Convention, he earned the highest score in the state on the Farm Business Management Exam. John Chesley will participate in the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana later this month. Aaron Miles is the current Agriculture teacher at Latta High School.
Landon Gasque is the son of Greg and Stacey Gasque. He is currently a fifth grade student at Latta Middle School. On the statewide math assessment (SC-Ready), Landon earned one of the highest scores in the state. Tate Williamson is the son of Kevin and Jennifer Williamson. He is currently a fifth grade student at Latta Middle School. On the statewide math assessment (SC-Ready), Landon earned one of the highest scores in the state. Robin Morris is the fourth grade teacher that taught both of these students during last school year.
The significant achievements that these young people have already accomplished make us all look forward to seeing what they will do in the future. The staff and faculty would like to extend our congratulations to each of these students for their hard work.
