Nemo Squire Signs With East Carolina

On Wednesday, December 15, Nemo Squire took the next step in his academic and football career by signing with East Carolina University Pirates football team in the Dillon High School Gymnasium before family, friends, well-wishers, Dillon High football coaches, Dillon High athletic director, and other school officials. East Carolina University is located in Greenville, N.C. After all, Squire had 18 offers from other Division 1 universities.
Dillon High head football coach, Kelvin Roller, thanked Nemo’s family for the manner in which Squire was brought up. Roller stated “Nemo is a highly motivated young man and has been since a youth. Nemo should handle Division 1 play easily. We expect big things from Nemo at the next level.”
He has high character and is a great leader. He has influenced a great deal of our players. He is a great player on the field and to accomplish that one must do lots of work! “It is no secret nor surprise to us that he has turned out so great, both on and off the field.
“Nemo has great parents and has a great support system. We know he will be successful at the next level. We can’t wait to see him in action!”
Nemo has great skills and should fit into any football program. He has been playing for eleven years after being influenced by his Dad.
As noted earlier, Squire has a great work ethic and great character and will fit well into the football program at ECU.
Nemo’s faith has carried him a long way and he has impacted many people due to God’s allowance. Squire will carry his faith in Christ with him to ECU.
Nemo possesses a 3.98 gpa and will be using his knowledge to get a degree in Engineering.
Squire has received many offers while playing football such as Zoneman Finalist (Best Players in S.C. Lower State), All State running back- High School Sports Report (9th – 12 grade), All Zone Team, All Region, Alll Pee Dee Team, All Blitz Team, Channel 13 Player of the Week (2X), and South Carolina Hall of Fame – Bridge Builder Award winner.
Nemo, although very busy playing football for many years, loves to work out.
Squire’s parents are Prentice Squire and Lakeisha Squire. Both dedicate the following to their son Nemo Squire, their family, friends, coaches and the faithful Dillon Wildcat Nation. We have said we are proud many times in the past but today you have finished one chapter that God predestined for your life and exemplified great character, work ethic, and leadership that all future Wildcats can carry on so hold your head high – we Love you!!?. East Carolina University has a true leader coming in as an early enrollee – Go Pirates. Nemo stepped into a powerhouse program as a 7th grader with a talent, work ethic, and leadership ability that only God can give. Many people don’t understand our son had the ability to play varsity as a 8th grader that led to him starting as a freshman. Coach Hayes said “he never started a freshman running back but had no choice because of his ability.”
Each year his game excelled to another level with many accomplishments and awards.
These 4 varsity years have gone by so fast, and we are overwhelmed with emotions not with sadness but because God has been so faithful. Many years of prayer, sacrifice, blood, sweat, and tears but his example shall live on in the history books of Dillon football. Nemo stat “history book worthy” with 76 touchdowns, over 5,000 yards rushing and nearly 1,000 yards receiving.
To every Coach at Dillon High school, youth football, and SC AAU football levels: The Squire Family is grateful for every word spoken and development imparted into our son!
Also, to our family: the love you show is amazing, and the friends who welcomed us with open arms, we are forever grateful for the unwavering love & support.
Walk in greatness son because East Carolina University is calling your name, and as you always say and do continue to fulfill “PassionInYourPurpose” #BornN2ThisEnterprises #PassionInYourPurpose.
