Two people have been charged in connection with a bomb threat made at Latta High School on August 24, 2021.
Jeremiah Antwan Tyleek Drawhorn, age 18, of Marion, and O’Marieon Dae’Quan Narciso, age 18, of Marion, are charged with making a bomb threat or convey, false information about a bomb threat, first offense.
According to an incident report by SRO Crystal Moore, two calls were made to the Latta High School office conveying a bomb threat. Because the schools are attached, both Latta High School and Latta Middle School were evacuated due to the threat.
After an extensive investigation by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Dennis Cox, two suspects were charged.
Participating agencies in the case were the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Latta Police Department, U.S. Marshals and bomb detection K-9, Marion Police Department, and Mullins Police Department.
Latta Schools Superintendent Dr. John Kirby made the following statement in regards to the arrests: “We are extremely satisfied that local authorities with the lead of SLED were able to catch the two non-student non-resident adults not living in our community. They caused an extremely unsettling and major disturbance to our schools and our community. They violated an essential law that protects the disturbance of schools and community.”
He continued, “We hope and support the judicial system prosecuting them to the full extent of the law. Doing so will send a stern message to those that take it upon themselves to violate laws they feel are not enforceable for them and believe that disregarding such is a privilege they can enjoy without any consequences. While technology existed for them to try to disguise their call of the two bomb threats, better technology exists for law enforcement to apprehend them, prosecute them and pay the consequences of their chosen unlawful and dangerous action.”
