PHOTO GALLERY: Dillon Junior Varsity Looking Forward To Upcoming Season

Dillon Junior Varsity head football Coach Kevin Roberts and his team will be facing some powerful, quality opponents this year including 5 A Carolina Forest, 5 A Socastee, 4 A Wilson, and Marlboro County, plus conference foes.
Dillon will host Wilson on Thursday, September 2, at 6:30 p.m. for the season opener.
During the off-season, the Dillon squad has had good attendance in the off-season program. The players have worked hard getting stronger, getting in shape, and learning what the team does.
As the team awaits the approaching football season, the team has great leadership in the coaching staff with Coach Roberts having coached for 17 years and this year as a head coach for the sixth year.
This year Dillon lost Coach Gary Barfield who moved to varsity as running but has added Sam Grooms as Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach, James McMillan as Running Backs Coach, and Austin Moody as Wide Receivers Coach to the coaching staff.
Returning coaches include Keith Coward as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, William Clark as Defensive Line Coach, Twin Lester as Defensive Backs Coach, and Bryce King as Offensive Line Coach.
Coming off of a shortened Covid-19 season last year with a 4-1 record, the team is expected to do well this year.
With experience in positions such as quarterback, running backs, linebackers, and the defensive line, the team should be competitive on the field and hopefully in the classroom as Coach Roberts and his staff expects the players to listen to the coaches, give the coaches maximum effort in practice and games, behave and do their work inside the classrooms in the school building, and develop into leaders on and off the field.
There will be some new wrinkles in the Dillon defense this year.
Although Dillon needs more wide receivers and defensive backs to step up and be play-makers, Dillon has some new talent but will not be able to fully know what these new ones can do until tested in live game action.
The team eagerly awaits the opening of the season.
