Lady Wildcats Get Win Over Red Foxes
The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the visiting Hartsville Lady Red Foxes 3-1 in varsity softball action played in Dillon on Monday, April 12.
Dillon’s Paige Sherman pitched a 1-hit shut-out going the distance. She struck out 9 and walked 3.
Alyssa Poston was charged with the loss. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 5 hits, walked 4, struck out 11, and allowed 3 runs.
In the first inning, both teams were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
In the top of the second inning, the Lady Red Foxes were once again retired 1-2-3.
In the bottom of the second inning, Dillon’s Qy Wilson arrived safely at first with a bunt. She quickly stole second base and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Logan Grice. Lexie Rogers hit a long 1 to left for a stand-up double and a rbi to give Dillon a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, Hartsville was unable to get the offense going and returned to defense after being retired 1-2-3.
The Lady Wildcats were also retired 1-2-3 by the Hartsville pitcher in the bottom of the third inning.
In the top of the fourth inning, Hartsville’s Jaysha McCullough arrived at first on an error. Alyssa Poston garnered a walk to place runners on first and second with no outs. Kindan Dawson had a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third with only 1 out. Hartsville had a threat going. Olivia Martin flied out to right for out 2. Jaysha McCullough was thrown out at home attempting to score. Dillon had dodged a bullet.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Qy Wilson garnered a walk and once again quickly stole second base. Logan Grice also garnered a walk. Both Wilson and Grice stole a base to move safely to second and third. Ny Wilson garnered a walk to load the bases. Lexie Rogers hit one to center to pick up a double and 2 rbi.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Dillon’s Paige Sherman led off with a double on a hit to center followed by a bunt by Abby Bristow to place runners on the corners with no outs. However, Hartsville stopped the Dillon scoring threat.
Dillon committed 2 errors in the game while Hartsville did not commit an error.
Dillon will host Georgetown today (Thursday, April 15) at 6:30 p.m. Support your team.

Vikings Return Home With Win
The Latta Vikings varsity baseball team returned home on Tuesday, April 13, with a 25-0 shut-out over the Mullins Auctioneers in a game played in Mullins in the run-ruled shortened game.
Latta jumped out with 14 runs on the scoreboard after the first half of inning one and held Mullins scoreless in the bottom half of the first inning.
Latta added 11 runs in the top of the second inning and once again held Mullins scoreless in the bottom half.
The duo of Andrew Bryant and Preston Tyler combined for the shut-out. Bryant pitched one inning and allowed no hits, no runs, and walked no one while Preston Tyler pitched an inning and allowed only 1 hit, no runs, and no walks.
Mykell Raysor pitched one inning for the Auctioneers. He allowed hits and walked one while Taymore pitched and allowed 4 hits and walked 6. Lonnie Alston pitched 1 inning and walked 3.
Mykell Raysor garnered a single in his 1 at-bat for Mullins.
Lake View’s Preston Tyler had a triple, a double, a single, and 3 rbi in his 3 at-bats. Dylan Shelley had a triple and 2 rbi in his 2 at-bats. Austin Brigman had a triple and a rbi in his 1 at-bat. Andrew Bryant had a triple and a rbi n his 1 at-bat. Eli Henderson had a single and a rbi in his 2 at-bats. Luke Haselden had a single and a rbi in his 1 at-bat. Collin Minshew had 2 rbi in his 1 at-bat. Gabe Sherman had a single and a rbi in his 1 at-bat. John Hucks had a single in his 1 at-bat.
Mullins committed 3 errors in the game while Latta committed 1 error.
Latta will travel to Carvers Bay on Saturday, April 17, for a double-header beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Thomas Skipper Throws No-Hitter Against Flashes
Lake View’s Thomas Skipper threw a no-hitter on Tuesday, April 13, to defeat the Johnsonville Flashes 2-0 in varsity baseball action played in Johnsonville.
Lake View’s Thomas Skipper struck out 13 and walked no one in the win while Johnsonville’s pitchers allowed 9 hits in the game.
Johnsonville’s Walker Gamble started on the mound and pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 hits, walked 5, and allowed 1 run while Gavin Davis pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 hits, walked 1, and allowed 1 run.
Lake View committed an error in the game while Johnsonville did not commit an error.
The Wild Gators’ Noah Carter connected for a double, 2 singles, and a rbi in 3 at-bats while Luke King had a single and a rbi in 4 at-bats. Chris McGill had 2 singles in his 3 at-bats, and both Michael McInnis and Thomas Skipper each had a single in 3 at-bats. Braxton Dimery added a single in his 4 at-bats.
Lake View will travel to Hannah Pamplico on Tuesday, April 20, for a 6:00 p.m. game.

Vikings Sail To Win Over Auctioneers
The Latta Lady Vikings sailed to a 19-0 win over the Mullins Lady Auctioneers in the first game of a double-header played in Mullins on Tuesday, April 13.
Latta’s Rylyn Marsh pitched the complete 4 innings and allowed 1 hit, struck out 7, and walked 2 in the win.
Hannah Hewitt was tagged with the loss for the Auctioneers. She pitched 4 innings and allowed 15 hits, struck out 2 while walking 9.
Latta did not commit an error while Mullins was guilty of 3 errors.
Latta wasted no time as they placed 8 runs on the scoreboard that started with a solo home run by Jena Stutler. Not to be outdone, Elizabeth Brown also connected for a home run in the first inning but she also had double in the second and fourth innings, a single in the fourth inning, and picked up 5 rbi in her 4 at-bats.
Latta added 2 runs in the top of the second, a run in the top of the third, and 8 runs in the top of the fourth.
The Lady Vikings’ Blake Hatchell had 3 singles, a double, and 2 rbi in her 4 at-bats. Averi Lovell had a homer and 2 rbi in her 2 at-bats. Maddie Berry had a triple and a rbi in her 4 at-bats. Rylyn Marsh was perfect at the plate with 2 singles in her 2 at-bats. Gracie Shuler had a single in her 1 at-bat. Abigail Cooper had a single in her 4 at-bats.
Mullins’ Hannah Hewitt connected for Mullins’ only hit of the game with a single in the first inning. She went 1 for 2 at the plate.
In the second game of the double-header, Ragan Bethea picked up the 19-0 win for the Latta Lady Vikings over the Mullins Lady Auctioneers in the run-ruled, 3-inning game. Bethea allowed 1 hit and walked 2 in the game while Hannah Hewitt took the loss. She pitched 2 innings and allowed 16 hits and walked 2.
Mullins committed 5 errors in the game. Latta did not commit an error.
The Lady Auctioneers’ Eva Collins connected for a single in her 2 at-bats.
The Latta Lady Vikings were hot at the plate connecting for 6 home runs in the game. Averi Lovell had 2 home runs, a single, and 4 rbi in her 3 at-bats. Abigail Cooper had a home run, a triple, and 4 rbi n her 3 at-bats. Ragan Bethea had a home run, a double, and 3 rbi in her 3 at-bats. Jena Stutler had a home run, a double, and 2 rbi n her 3 at-bats. Gracie Shuler had a home run and 2 rbi in her 2 at-bats. Rylyn Marsh had a double, a single, and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. Blake Hatchell had a single and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. Emily Smith was perfect at the plate with a single in her 1 at-bat. Jayla Jackson had a single in her 2 at-bats.
