Alex Strickland Inks To Play With Methodist University

Alex Strickland took the next step in his football career and inked to play with Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Friday, April 2, at the Ellis Performing Arts Center at Latta High School in Latta.

Strickland thanked God, Methodist University, his mom, his dad, his late Uncle Wayne, his step-father, brothers, the Town of Latta, his football coaches, and many others for the support given him in his football career.
Strickland has devoted 10 years of his life to practicing and playing the sport he enjoys most…football, the sport his late Uncle Wayne influenced him to play. By the way, he also plays basketball.
Strickland believes he will be a key part in the defense for Methodist University because of his intensity. He carries his great work ethic and his leadership through example.
Strickland appreciated the enthusiasm of the fans as they cheered from the football stands… also, his teammates on the field.
Strickland had other offers such as Erskine College but he should fit in well at Methodist University where he should be an outside linebacker or a wide receiver. While there, he will major in Physical Education.
When not playing or practicing football or basketball, Strickland devotes some time to video games, working out, and eating.
Strickland has watched his mother, Jan Powers-Penuel, do the impossible, and he attempts to do the same.
Strickland also places his father, Bubba Strickland on a pedestal as Bubba is always present at practice or the games pushing him to be the best football player he can be, and Alex refuses to let his father down.
Strickland admires his coaches, Coach Brandon Iseman and Coach Chris German. Both have contributed to his success on the field as they have impressed upon him the importance of his academics and his athletics.
Strickland’s parents are very proud of his accomplishments thus far and know that he will continue to succeed in the future.
They support him 100 percent as does his coaches.
We all wish Strickland continued success as he pursues his college career.
