Tip Leads To Drug Arrest

A tip from SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) led to an arrest on Tuesday night, according to Sheriff Douglas Pernell.

Pernell said the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from SLED that a package was to be delivered to a residence on Applejack Loop. SLED intercepted the package and a controlled delivery was made, Pernell said.
The package was dropped off at 5 p.m. and then the man who received it went outside after about 10 minutes and put the package in a vehicle.
The items, including marijuana and crack cocaine, were seized and are pictured at right, and David Lee McCormick was arrested. He had a pistol and a small amount of cash, said Pernell.

Participating agencies were SLED, the Dillon Police Department, and the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office. Lake View Police Department was on standby.
Pernell said McCormick is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
Pernell praised the work of Deputies Troy Jones, Ryan Bethea, and Kim Brumble.
McCormick is at the Dillon County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
