A secret ballot was used to cast the votes. This is the only vote of council that can be cast by a secret ballot.
T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr., was elected chairman in a 7-0 vote.
Harold Moody was elected vice-chairman in a 5-2 vote. Gerome McLeod received the other two votes.
Finklea thanked his colleagues for voting for him. “I am a team
captain, but I am no better than the players here. We all have to work together as a team for the best of Dillon County. I feel like we have a good council here. I appreciate your vote,” Finklea said.
The votes were counted and announced by County Attorney Alan Berry.
Finklea is entering his third term as a councilman and has held the positions of chairman and vice-chairman multiple times.
Moody was elected to council in 1995 and has served numerous times as chairman and vice-chairman.
