Dollie Stone Rice

Mrs. Dollie Stone Rice, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 13, 2020 after an illness, with her family by her side. She was married to the late Coach Eddie Rice.
Born in Abbeville County, SC, on January 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Foster Marshall Stone and Margaret Pruitt Stone. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina with her Major in Music. She had a successful career in education, teaching Chorus and History at the Latta High School for more than 30 years. She was a faithful, lifelong member of the Latta Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir, taught the Intermediate Sunday School Class and was a member of the church circle. She was a member of the Magnolia Garden Club and her favorite hobbies were pressed flowers art and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Dollie R. Morrell (Richard) of Latta and Margaret R. Scott (Richard) of Pawley’s Island; a brother, Charles Foster Stone (Annette) of Donalds, SC; sister in laws, Lina Rice of Marion, SC and Jane Stone of Donalds, SC; grandchildren, Stone Scott, Austin Morrell (Amanda), Chandler Morrell (Kayla); two great-grandchildren, Reid Allen Morrell and Luke Huggins; nieces, Melanie Watson (Ray) of Donalds, SC, Leigh Ann Meurer of Cincinatti, Ohio and Kelly Rice of Marion, SC; nephew, Gary Stone (Julie) of Donalds, SC; great nieces & nephews, Tegan Stone, River Stone, Henley Kate Stone, Maggie and Ellie Watson.
Graveside services were held 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Magnolia Cemetery in Latta directed by Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon. The Rev. Paul Gasque will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; and by brothers, Gary and Louis Stone.
